Do2dtun encourages Nigerians to raise their voices

Nigerian media personality Do2dtun has called on Nigerians to take personal responsibility in speaking out against insecurity, rather than waiting for celebrities to lead the charge.

In a post shared via his X handle on Tuesday, Do2dtun observed that the public often criticizes celebrities whether they speak up or remain silent about national issues. He emphasized that holding the government accountable is a duty for all citizens, not just a select few with public platforms.

Those who speak out are often attacked and pushed to the brink of depression. As a result, some people only speak up to maintain their peace of mind, while others choose silence for the same reason.

Many have been insulted into silence. Everyone should use their own platform, Nigeria does not treat public figures any differently. It is not solely their duty to hold the government accountable; it is our collective responsibility. Focus your energy on those who have actually failed you, he stated.

Do2dtun also pointed out that fear and trauma have made many Nigerians reluctant to speak out, causing them to shift blame and responsibility that should be shared by all.

We are often our own biggest obstacle. Our trauma leads us to attack others over problems that affect us all, and we look for solutions in the wrong places. Just as a herbalist can prescribe medicine but cannot take it for you, everyone must act on their own behalf. Sadly, many who do nothing with their platforms are quick to criticize those who do. This is hypocrisy of the highest order, he added.
