Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has dismissed renewed criticism of his marriage to actress Judy Austin, declaring that neither “mortal nor spirit” can bring him down. The latest controversy follows public allegations from Judy Austin’s former husband, Emmanuel Obasi.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Edochie addressed years of negative publicity and false accusations, stating, “My aura gives my enemies sleepless nights. In the last four years, they’ve told all sorts of lies against me and they all failed.
He claimed that allegations of marrying another man’s wife were part of a smear campaign, and argued that Obasi left his marriage in 2013, remarried, and only resurfaced after Judy Austin gained fame.
A man who left his wife in 2013, married another woman and moved on, years after he sees the ex-wife is now doing well and comes back to attach himself,” Edochie wrote.
Unfazed by the backlash, Edochie asserted, “I’m a rock. No mortal or spirit can bring me down. I’m a chosen one. A lion. A king. He credited God’s grace for his resilience and ongoing support from fans.
The dispute escalated after Obasi appeared on the Honest Bunch Podcast, alleging that Edochie was keeping him from seeing his children. Judy Austin has denied these claims, defending Edochie in a video statement:
Please, you people should stop insulting Yul Edochie. He has helped me take care of kids who are not his biological children. He puts a roof over their heads, pays their school fees, and feeds them.
Judy Austin also clarified that she met Edochie in 2016 on a movie set, after her marriage to Obasi had ended. She described the attacks on Edochie as unfair—especially to single mothers supported by men who are not the biological fathers of their children.
The ongoing dispute has sparked mixed reactions across social media, with users divided over the claims and counterclaims.
