Davido Announces July Release for Sixth Studio Album ‘Oriadé’

Nigerian music superstar Davido has announced his sixth studio album, “Oriadé,” set for release on July 31, 2026 marking exactly 15 years since his breakthrough into the music industry.

The Afrobeats icon revealed the news in an exclusive interview with Billboard and later confirmed it on social media with a dramatic teaser.

In the post, Davido declared: “ORIADÉ. 31st JULY. The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne. Pre-order my new album now. (Link in bio).

The cinematic teaser embraces regal imagery, featuring the 33-year-old artist in a richly embroidered wine-and-black traditional outfit adorned with beads, flanked by a throne and crown—visuals that underscore the album’s central themes of royalty, destiny, and purpose.

The album title, “Oriadé,” combines the Yoruba words “ori” (head or destiny) and “adé” (crown), symbolizing what Davido calls a deeply personal chapter in his career. Reflecting on his journey from a rising talent to one of Africa’s most influential music exports, he told Billboard: “Over fifteen years ago, I decided to trust something I couldn’t fully explain… I just knew music was my destiny. Oriadé is a celebration of the journey that led me to where I am now.”

He continued: “To be in a position where I can help push African music forward around the world is something I’ll never take for granted. I hope when people hear my new album, they understand that purpose doesn’t always follow the expected path. The biggest blessings often come from betting on yourself, even when the destination isn’t in sight yet.”

Beyond its symbolic title, Davido describes the album as a creative homecoming, embracing the authentic Afrobeats sound that first defined his artistry. “The recent music I’ve been working on is really, really African. I’m taking it back to my original Davido kind of music,” he said.

With 13 tracks, “Oriadé” is Davido’s shortest full-length album to date—his previous projects, including “Omo Baba Olowo” (2012), “A Good Time” (2019), “A Better Time” (2020), “Timeless” (2023), and “5ive” (2025), each featured 17 songs.

The album’s rollout began with the release of lead single “I Know Who I Be” on Friday, officially launching the campaign.

“Oriadé” follows the success of 2025’s “5ive,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard World Albums chart, giving Davido his fifth consecutive top-five placement. That project included collaborations with Omah Lay, Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Becky G, Shenseea, and YG Marley, with the Omah Lay-assisted “With You” becoming one of 2025’s standout Afrobeats records.

The announcement comes amid another milestone year for the award-winning singer. In April, Davido made his Coachella debut with a 45-minute set featuring a surprise appearance by fellow Nigerian star Adekunle Gold. He also joined Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado on “No Place Like Home,” the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which he performed at the tournament’s countdown concert in Los Angeles.
