Shatta Wale, the Ghanaian dancehall artist, has claimed that his relationship with Grammy winner Burna Boy was damaged by false rumors spread by some of his former signees.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Shatta Wale real name Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. explained that the trouble began after he parted ways with about five to seven artists he had previously signed.
According to the 41-year-old musician, he ended their working relationship because they had become increasingly difficult to manage.
He alleged that these former associates then began contacting influential people in his life, spreading false accusations in an attempt to sabotage his relationships.
All five or seven of these boys I let go were calling every wealthy or important person in my life, telling them that I was sleeping with their wives, he said. I have billionaire friends who received calls, and they told those boys that if they ever made such accusations again, they would have them arrested.
Shatta Wale further alleged that Burna Boy was among those approached by his former associates. They told Burna Boy that I was sleeping with the girl he brought to Ghana, he said. The artist expressed his disappointment that Burna Boy believed the allegation without speaking to him first.
Shatta Wale said he had always supported Burna Boy’s career and looked forward to celebrating his achievements. He added that he became concerned when Burna Boy stopped responding to his calls and messages, prompting him to reach out to Burna Boy’s mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, whom he regards as a mother figure.
