Nigerian media personality Chude Jideonwo has candidly shared the reasons behind his decision to write his will at 30 and embrace a child-free life.
Speaking on the “Beyond With Ezinne” podcast, Chude reflected on his journey of self-discovery, fears, and pivotal life choices.
Despite being an only child, Chude revealed he has chosen not to have biological children. He explained that facing the reality of mortality early on helped him overcome his fears and plan meaningfully for the future.
“In 2015, I journaled intensely. I asked myself: What do I love? Who do I love? How do I like to be loved? What am I insecure about?
I wrote down the six things I’m afraid of and considered what the worst outcome would be if they happened. That’s when I decided to write my will, at 30 or 31 years old. I wanted to ensure my mother and the NGO I support would be taken care of if anything happened to me,” he said.
Chude emphasized that his choice to be child-free was deeply considered, not impulsive. “I wrote down questions like, do I want to get married? Who do I want to marry? It was during that process I realized I didn’t want to have children.
That’s a major realization, especially as an only child of a mother I love dearly and want to care for,” he added.
