Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade has shared the heartbreaking news of her mother’s passing after a lengthy illness.
In an emotional Instagram post on Monday, Adunni revealed that her mother died on Sunday, October 18, following a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness.
Expressing profound grief, Adunni described the loss as deeply painful, yet accepted it as the will of Allah. “With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator on October 18 after a long battle with illness,” she wrote.
Her announcement began with the Islamic declaration, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” and she noted that her mother is survived by children, grandchildren, sisters, and other loved ones. Adunni prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy upon her late mother, asking for strength to endure the loss: “Ya Allah, forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her, make her grave spacious and filled with light, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus. Grant us sabr and strength as we navigate this painful loss. Ameen.”
She also expressed her enduring love, hoping for a reunion in paradise: “Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen.”
Adunni added that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course. Since her announcement, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers have been offering their condolences and support to the actress.
