Country music legend and Hall of Fame inductee John Anderson has died at age 71, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fellow musicians such as Blake Shelton.
Anderson, best known for hits like “Swingin’,” “Straight Tequila Night,” and “Seminole Wind,” passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 21, according to a statement from his family. He was just weeks shy of his 72nd birthday.
“I am sick and I am stunned,” wrote Shelton, sharing his grief and describing Anderson as both an inspiration and a friend.
Anderson’s family remembered him not only as a celebrated artist but also as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, highlighting the deep bonds he shared with his loved ones. “To the world, he was a gifted country music singer whose voice and songs touched countless lives. To us, he was so much more,” the family said.
His passing comes only days after he attended the Country Music Hall of Fame ceremony honoring this year’s inductees on Sunday, October 18.
