James Rodríguez is set to sign on the dotted line at Real Madrid this evening or on Wednesday morning at the latest. The Colombian, who will cost €80 million (including add-ons), has already arrived in the Spanish capital and will pen a six-year deal at the Bernabéu.
The attacking midfielder was also in Madrid briefly on Monday, on his way to Portugal, where he went to iron out the last kinks in his transfer with his agent Jorge Mendes. However, the World Cup top scorer, who is still on holiday after his exploits in Brazil, was confident that his move to ‘Los Blancos’ was imminent. He has already passed a medical and is simply waiting for Monaco and Real to rubber-stamp the deal, which should happen shortly, before being introduced to his new adoring fans.
James will be the second world-class player to join the ‘Merengues’ this summer, hot on the heels of Toni Kroos, who was unveiled at the Bernabéu last Thursday. The Colombian will wear Real’s number 10 shirt and is expected to pen a deal tying him to the club until 2020.
