Diego Costa, despite not taking part in Tuesday’s final training session, is indeed on the match list for the Atlético Madrid-Barcelona clash in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, which Turkish player Arda Turan will have to sit it out due to injury. Following Tuesday evening’s training session, which did not feature either Diego Costa or Arda Turan, the Argentine coach, Diego Simeone, announced the list of players called up for duty to do battle against Barcelona at the Vicente Calderón stadium.
Simeone has named 21 players, including Diego Costa, who is recovering from a grade I muscular strain in the semitendinosus muscle running down the back of his right leg which kept him away from the pre-match preparation session with his teammates. Turkish midfielder Arda Turan did not make the list, ruled out due to a groin injury detected after the first leg tie at Camp Nou on 1st April. The player will not be match-fit in time. New additions from the first leg Camp Nou line up come in the form of Raúl García, who returns from completing a one-match ban, and Javier Manquillo, having received the medical all-clear from a vertebral fracture.
