Veteran Fuji musician Musibau Alani, who is also the stepfather of Afrobeats star Asake, has denied allegations that he “snatched” the singer’s mother, Fali, from his father, Odunsi Malo.
Musibau addressed the rumors following recent family drama, which saw Malo accusing Asake of abandoning him during an illness. Amid the controversy, some claimed that Fali influenced Asake’s decision to cut ties with his father after she left him for another man.
Musibau’s Response
In a media chat, Musibau refuted the claims, stating that Fali was already separated from Malo before he met her.
“I met Fali as a single mother; she was already separated from her husband, whom I didn’t know at the time. We got along, and she moved in with me along with her son, Ahmed (Asake). I trained the boy.”
Musibau further revealed that he later met Malo, who worked at a local council in Lagos Island, and there was no animosity between them.
“The day he saw me there, he even told his colleagues to thank me for taking good care of his son, Ahmed (Asake).”
Additionally, Musibau dismissed rumors that he was present as a musician during Asake’s naming ceremony, stating:
“For the record, I did not snatch Fali from her first husband, and I was neither present at nor played at Asake’s naming ceremony.”
Ongoing Family Drama
While Musibau maintains his stance, the rift between Asake and his father, Malo, continues to generate online discussions. Fans are keenly watching for any response from the singer regarding the controversy.
