On Wednesday morning Rafa Benítez put pen to paper at Real Madrid, signing a three-year contract running until 30th June 2018, the club announced.
The 55-year-old replaces Carlo Ancelotti, who was dismissed after a poor end to his second season in charge which saw the club end the campaign without any major silverware.
While it was the Italian who delivered ‘La Décima’, Benítez is the tenth Real Madrid coach to serve under Florentino Pérez across the president’s two spells at the helm of the club.
