A coroner’s inquest has determined that Nigerian-British businessman Igho ‘Tiny’ Ubiribo died after undergoing a penis enlargement procedure in Thailand.
Ubiribo, 43, passed away in March and was laid to rest in a gold coffin in London in May. His funeral was attended by notable figures including Afrobeats star Davido and socialite Cubana Chief Priest.
According to TMZ, Jean Harkin, the coroner at Inner West London Coroners’ Court, ruled that Ubiribo’s death was caused by a pulmonary embolism—a sudden blockage in a lung blood vessel—triggered by the cosmetic procedure.
During a trip to Thailand in March with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, Ubiribo underwent a procedure at an unidentified clinic that involved injecting 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine into his penis. Soon after, while getting a massage with his wife, he began experiencing chest pain and reportedly lost consciousness twice. He was rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital, where he initially responded to questions. Despite his wife informing doctors about the procedure, Ubiribo lost consciousness again before a CT scan could be performed. Medical staff administered CPR for over 100 minutes, but he died from complications on March 6. A UK postmortem later confirmed the presence of hyaluronic acid in his lungs, which led to the fatal pulmonary embolism.
In a separate development, Ubiribo and his wife were declared wanted by Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in 2023. Authorities allege the couple were linked to the attempted smuggling of 32.70 kilograms of “loud”—a potent strain of cannabis—concealed in cartons of used clothing, seized at Lagos airport in 2022. The NDLEA claims the pair are leaders of an international syndicate operating out of Los Angeles.
