Carter Efe wants to be called ‘Machala the Ripper’ amid Berri Tiga rift

Carter Efe, the skit maker, says fans should call him ‘Machala the Ripper’ — amid his ongoing feud with Berri Tiga, the fast-rising musician.

Efe and Tiga had joined forces for ‘Machala’, a now-popular song dedicated to Wizkid, the Afropop singer.

But the pair fell apart recently over the controversy bordering on who actually owned the song.

Efe had in an interview claimed he only featured Tiga in the song, adding that the hit belongs to him.

Tiga, however, countered the claim, pointing out that he composed the song.

He also alleged that Efe initially offered him a 95-5 per cent deal despite being the brain behind the song.

In a now-viral video, Efe was seen addressing the matter while performing the song at an event.

Introducing himself, the comedian said he now prefers to be called “Machala the Ripper”.

It remains to the seen if he is joking or actually wants to adopt the name.

“I’m not Machala again, I’m now Machala the Ripper, na only me dey give five per cent? Some people own sef no reach my rate,” he said a mixture of English and Pidgin.

Efe had earlier detailed his rift with Tiga, alleging that the fast-rising singer sought a 65% revenue cut on their collaborative song.

“I paid the distribution guy N3.5 million. But Berri is dragging the song with me, even when he hardly promotes it. They started arguing about money, insisting they would collect 65% from my own music,” he had said.
