Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has voiced his frustration with the club’s attacking woes, singling out Cole Palmer as the England star’s goal drought drags on into 2025.
Palmer hasn’t found the back of the net since January 14, when he scored in a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth. Despite Chelsea progressing to the Europa Conference League semi-finals with a 4-2 aggregate win over Legia Warsaw, they fell 2-1 on the night and once again, Palmer misfired.
Marc Cucurella, the team’s left-back, shockingly leads Chelsea’s scoring charts in 2025 with four goals across all competitions. Speaking after the loss in Poland, Maresca didn’t mince words:
“Especially the ones that we are missing, unfortunately, are very easy goals… Cucu is the one scoring, and that’s not a good thing. We for sure need the others.”
He added, “Hopefully, Nico and Cole can very soon start to score goals.”
With just one win in their last four matches, the pressure is mounting on Chelsea’s frontline. The Blues will look to bounce back in a must-win Premier League fixture against Fulham at Craven Cottage this Sunday.
