Del Bosque to leave La Roja

Vicente Del Bosque has already formally informed Angel Villar of his intention to leave his post as coach for the Spanish national team.

The coach and the president talked last Tuesday but have decided not to make the decision public until the assembly of the Spanish Football Federation, on July 15.

However the decision has been made for quite some time, with Del Bosque telling the president back in December that he would not continue after the European Championship was over.

Villar then asked for the matter to be pushed forward but Del Bosque has been clear about his decision from the start. The Spanish coach is now set to give his formal resignation on the board meeting scheduled for July 14. Villar has already decided that Joaquin Caparros will be the one to take over, with a presentation possibly scheduled for July 19.
