The Delta State Police Command has apprehended two suspected criminals and seized firearms, live ammunition, suspected cocaine, and other incriminating items during a stop-and-search operation by Safer Highway Patrol operatives on the Agbarho–Warri Road on July 25, 2026.
The suspects, identified as Omini Ezeri (46) and Chinedum Wagbara (42), both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were stopped while traveling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ. During initial questioning, a third occupant, God Knows Ifreke, fled the scene and escaped into a nearby swamp.
Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest to reporters, stating that a thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of two locally made Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, about 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder, and two sophisticated mobile phones.
Edafe added that the suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing individual.
