Dr. Dre and Ice Cube have been named as defendants in a wrongful death lawsuit filed against Marion “Suge” Knight, who ran over a man with his pickup truck in Compton.

According to the AP, Lilian Carter, the widow of Terry Carter, who was killed by Knight in a hit-and-run in the parking lot of Tam’s Burgers, filed suit Wednesday against the Death Row Records mogul, Universal Studios, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube, who are involved in the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.

The suit alleges Universal was negligent by continuing filming in Compton after Dre warned the production to keep Knight off the set. Knight and Dre have been feuding for years.

The complaint also alleges Universal negligently hired Cle “Bone” Sloan, whose fight with Knight led to Carter being run over. Sloan, who was seriously injured after being run over by Knight, was working as an adviser on the film and helped broker deals with gang members so that it could shoot in Compton.

The complaint reads: “This lawsuit concerns the tragic tale of how reckless corporate greed, disguised as the quest for authenticity, [led] to a foreseeable altercation that resulted in the death of a successful businessman.”

Dr. Dre’s attorney, Howard King, called the lawsuit “preposterous.”

Knight has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder, and a hit-and-run, and is being held on $25 million bail.
