Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has responded to comments made by movie critic Tolu Fagbure regarding her career and acting abilities.
In a recent interview, Fagbure claimed Eniola lacks talent, suggesting that her success in Nollywood is due to her attractive appearance rather than her acting skills.
He said, “She has no business being in the cinema with her movie ‘Ajakaju.’ She comes from the same camp as Odunlade Adekola, but I don’t think her acting is noteworthy. What she has is a beautiful face and a plastic delivery.
The only thing she’s got going for her is her looks—that’s admirable. I don’t believe she has talent, let alone the skill that comes from developing it. That’s just my opinion—it’s not absolute.
Eniola Ajao did not let these remarks go unanswered. She responded by affirming her commitment to her career despite the criticism. Eniola emphasized that she has no plans to quit acting and believes everyone is entitled to their opinions.
She wrote, “Ahhh, so my fine face is the only thing carrying me? After all these years? I’ll just keep doing what I know best—working, growing, and letting the audience decide. Opinions are free, but careers are built. Cinema or no cinema, I’m not stopping anytime soon. Ire oo.”
