David Moyes‘ side pushed for an equaliser in the second half, hitting the post through Vladimir Coufal on the hour mark.

Josh King also hit the woodwork late on for Everton, who held on to take all three points in their own pursuit of European football.

Carlo Ancelotti‘s team remain eighth in the Premier League table but are just two points behind Liverpool in sixth place.

As for West Ham, they stay in fifth, five points behind fourth-placed Leicester and a Champions League qualification spot.
