Jose Mourinho stole the show at UFC London on Saturday night, reviving his iconic “If I speak, I’m in trouble” phrase while attending the event at the O2 Arena.
The Fenerbahce manager made a surprise appearance to watch Leon Edwards vs. Sean Brady, taking a break from football as part of a mini-trip to London. Having spent years managing Chelsea and Tottenham, Mourinho received a huge ovation from the crowd, highlighting his lasting connection with the city.
When approached by UFC’s social media team for his thoughts on the fight, Mourinho didn’t disappoint:
“I think if I speak, I’m in trouble.”
The phrase dates back to 2014, when Mourinho famously refused to criticize referee Chris Foy after Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa.
Mourinho wasn’t the only football star in attendance—Tottenham striker Richarlison was also spotted at the event while recovering from injury. WWE superstar Drew McIntyre and comedian Shane Gillis were among other high-profile guests, making it a star-studded night.
With his Fenerbahce squad partly on international duty, Mourinho used the break to relax, but his attention will soon shift back to the Turkish Super Lig title race. His team sits nine points behind Galatasaray, but with a game in hand, Mourinho will be eager to close the gap when Fenerbahce face Bodrum FK on March 28.
