When and where is the 2021 UCL Champions League final

The match will take place at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on May 29, 2021. The venue was down to host 2020 final until that was postponed by the coronavirus pandemic.

This will be the second time the Champions League final will be hosted in Istanbul after Liverpool‘s famous comeback victory over AC Milan in 2005, held at the same ground.

The Ataturk Olympic Stadium also hosted the 2019 UEFA Super Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea, which also went to penalties, with the Reds prevailing.

The Olympic Stadium, which underwent renovations in 2020, now has a capacity 75,000, though it is not expected to be full for the 2021 final.

Coronavirus restrictions mean the final is likely to take place in front of a reduced crowd. Host cities at UEFA’s Euro 2020 will have at least 25 percent capacity, although the size of the crowd at the Champions League final could depend on Turkey’s coronavirus situation.
