David Ayuba, the new husband of Mayowa Lambe, has broken his silence amid the ongoing dispute involving Mayowa and her estranged ex-husband, Roby Ekpo.
The controversy erupted last week when Mayowa married David in the United States, surprising many who were unaware of her split from Roby. Mayowa and Roby had tied the knot in November 2015, but neither had publicly announced their separation before news of her new marriage emerged.
Addressing the situation on a recent episode of the Honest Bunch podcast, Roby discussed the difficulties they experienced in their marriage, particularly concerning intimacy.
In response, David shared—then deleted—an Instagram post in which he dismissed the public attention, stating that those who truly know him understand his perspective and that he does not owe anyone an explanation.
The path to greatness leaves no room for weakness, only strength. The ones in my corner understand me. I don’t owe explanations, and that’s enough, he wrote.

In a follow-up post, he remarked, Falsehood may travel fast, but truth arrives with consequences.
Amid the ongoing controversy, Mayowa issued a demand for N100 million in damages against Roby, citing alleged defamation and harassment.
According to a letter from her legal counsel dated April 22, Mayowa asserted that no marital relationship currently exists between her and Roby, stating that their union was mutually terminated on May 11, 2025.
She accused Roby of fabricating stories about their relationship and her character, claiming his remarks were calculated to evoke public sympathy and attract attention at her expense.
Responding through his own legal representatives, Roby characterized Mayowa’s demand as excessive, baseless, and premature.
He denied the defamation accusations, maintaining that his statements reflected his personal experiences and were not intended to harm.
Roby argued that the dispute arises from a complex interpersonal relationship that cannot be simplified into a single perspective, and asserted he possesses evidence to counter her allegations.
He added that he would not comply with Mayowa’s demands and is prepared to defend himself in court, including filing counterclaims if necessary.
Additionally, Roby indicated he may escalate the matter to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, stressing that all further communications should proceed through legal counsel and without undue pressure.
