Mr Macaroni Slams Governor Sanwo-Olu Over Lagos Hardship

Popular Nigerian actor and activist, Mr Macaroni, has publicly criticized Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his handling of the recent hardship caused by the closure of the Independence Bridge.

Taking to X, the comedian insisted that addressing citizens’ struggles is not a favour but a responsibility that comes with governance.

“The Governor is not doing anyone a favour by addressing the hardship Lagosians are facing. It is his responsibility!!! Most people have been conditioned to accept the barest minimum from politicians, and that is why there is zero accountability to the people.”

He further highlighted the luxuries government officials enjoy at the taxpayers’ expense while urging them to serve with commitment and respect.

“Sir @jidesanwoolu, the people pay for your nice convoy, your security, your accommodation, and every other luxury your office affords you.
The least you can do is to serve them with utmost respect and total commitment! They don’t deserve anything less!!!”

Background on the Independence Bridge Closure

The Independence Bridge was closed on April 2, 2025, causing massive gridlock and leaving commuters stranded for hours. After widespread complaints, Governor Sanwo-Olu addressed the public, but the situation sparked further criticism over the government’s handling of infrastructure and public services.

Following the outcry, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, ordered the bridge reopened the next day.
