A septuagenarian has been arrested in Katsina State for allegedly being in possession of 12 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa (weeds).
The 73-year-old woman, Umar Abdullahi, was among seven suspects arrested for allegedly being in possession of various kilogrammes of substances from August 18 to 25, 2020, by the Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Others arrested within the period are Shehu Adamu, 32; Nura Salele, 59; Nuhu Nabayi Fafawa, 52; and Shuaibu Dangora, 50; Sadiqu Dahiru, 23; and Harisu Sa’adu, 20.
NDLEA spokesperson in Katsina State, Mustapha Maikudi, confirmed the development on Saturday.
He said all the suspects already in the agency’s custody would face prosecution after the completion of investigation.
Maikudi added, “This is a warning to all drug dealers in the state that the command is ready to fish them out.”
