NFL legend Tom Brady has sent a bold message to rivals and fans alike after Birmingham City sealed a swift return to the Championship with a dramatic 2-1 win over Peterborough United on Tuesday night.
The victory, courtesy of goals from Alfie May and Taylor Gardner-Hickman, marked a triumphant comeback to England’s second tier just one year after relegation. But for Brady — who holds a minority ownership stake in the club — this is just the beginning.
Taking to Instagram, the seven-time Super Bowl champion declared:
“Straight back up to the EFL Championship, and not done yet.”
Brady also gave his American fans a playful shoutout, saying:
“NFL fans are getting a crash course in the English football pyramid!!!”

Currently, Birmingham sit 14 points clear of second-placed Wrexham, the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club also chasing promotion. But it’s Birmingham who are on track to clinch the League One title, and they could do so as early as April 18 with a win over Crawley Town at St Andrew’s.
Record Watch: Birmingham Eye History
The Blues are now chasing multiple records:
- Most points in a League One season (Wolves – 103 in 2013/14) – Birmingham need just 9 more.
- Most wins in a third-tier season (Aston Villa – 32 in 1971/72) – 4 more victories will set a new record.
- All-time English league points record (Reading – 106 in 2005/06) – achievable with 6 games left.
One More Wembley Date
Promotion aside, Birmingham are also Wembley-bound this Sunday to face Peterborough United once again in the Football League Trophy Final. A win there would cap off what’s already shaping up to be one of the greatest seasons in club history.
From Brady’s fire to the Blues’ form, Birmingham fans have every reason to dream big. The Championship awaits — but the best may still be yet to come.
