Police operatives kill four armed bandits in gun duel; five operational motorcycles seized

The Katsina State Police Command says its operatives has foiled plans by a group of bandits to reign terror on Wurma and Yarbudu villages in Kurfi local government area of the state.

According to a Police Press Release by the Police Public Relations Officer of Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, CRIMECHANNELS learnt that some Police personnel stationed at Wurma village on sighting the bandits, opened fire on them, and in the course of the gun battle, 5 bandits were shot dead while other fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.

Isah said that the bandits armed with AK-47 rifles were up to 150 when they stormed the villages on motorbikes. He said that the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 2 at about 5:30pm.

Part of his statement read, “A team of Police men led by Area Commander, Dutsinma, blocked the escape route of the bandits at Yarbudu village and engaged them into a gun duel.”

The doggedness, uncommon courage and tactical operational strategy adopted by the Police officers made the bandits to flee into the forest with varying degree of bullets wounds.”

“In the course of profiling the scene, 4 bandits were neutralized and 5 of their motorcycles were recovered.”

The Command urges members of the public to cooperate with security agencies working at the frontline areas by giving them credible information on bandits and their collaborators, especially those supplying them with arms and ammunition, informants and other essential commodities.”

The Command assures members of the public that the Command remain resolute and committed in the ongoing fight against recalcitrant bandits until they are arrested and dealt with according to the extant laws of the land.”
