According to France’s BeIN Sports, Real Madrid have finally landed the player they’ve coveted for the past three years and will announce the signing of the 28-year-old promptly following the 2014 World cup on July 13th.
Radamel Falcao raised more than a few eyebrows after a superb 2012-2013 campaign with Atlético Madrid, when he packed his bags and headed for Monaco. The cash rich French club made him an offer he simply couldn’t refuse, whilst the La Liga club had little control, due to his rights being partially owned by third-party group, Doyen Sports.
Reports emerged last week, claiming that Falcao’s Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes is oiling the machinery of another transfer move, for the Colombian star.
Real Madrid have often been linked with Falcao and he’s reportedly keen to make a move to the Bernabéu this summer, having rejected interest from English Premier League sides, Chelsea, who went for Diego Costa instead, along with Tottenham and Manchester City. Liverpool too have been linked, but only if they sell Luis Suárez.
Interestingly, Real Madrid have also been strongly linked with a move for Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suárez, though the current favourites to move for his signature, are their eternal rivals Barcelona.
This would suggest that any move for another striker to provide competition for Karim Benzema, points even more towards an approach from Real Madrid for Radamel Falcao.
Whether the desire of the Colombian hit-man and his agent Jorge Mendes, becomes a reality this summer, remains to be seen and for sure, will continue to be speculated widely over the coming weeks.
