Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid became the first team to claim back-to-back UEFA Super Cup wins since 1992/1993 with a 2-1 win over Europa League champions Manchester United.
Goals from Casemiro and Isco put Madrid in the lead before Lukaku playing his first competitive game for the Manchester side alongside fellow new signings Matic and Lindelof halved the deficit.
Both teams will not turn their attention to their respective leagues as league action starts this weekend.
