Sergio Romero, a key performer in the match having saved two penalties in the shoot-out which took Argentina to the grand finale, was exuberant after the encounter. “I’m overjoyed. Happy in every way. Penalties are a game of chance, that’s the truth. You can go for it and not make it, but I was confident.”
The Argentinean goalkeeper highlighted the work the whole team had put in and the belief his teammates had in victory: “Those guys don’t leave anything in the locker, they kill themselves in training as well as the matches”.
Lastly, he sent a clear message to the Argentine supporters: “Enjoy the moment. Let’s enjoy this moment”.
