Cristiano Ronaldo stayed behind in the dressing room after the half-time break in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Atlético de Madrid.

The Portuguese player felt some discomfort in his knee and did not take to the field in the second half as a precautionary measure.
Ronaldo made way for Colombian star James Rodríguez, who made his debut at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Portuguese star did not participate much in the first half and barely bothered Atlético goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Moyá. He has been feeling good with regard to fitness during the pre-season games, but preferred to err on the side of caution at the first sign of trouble.
