Ruben Amorim Sidesteps Questions on Matheus Cunha’s Potential Move to Manchester United

Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has declined to comment on rumors linking Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha with a summer move to Manchester United.

Ahead of his team’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Sunday, Amorim was asked about Cunha’s future but chose not to speculate. The Portuguese boss made it clear that predicting transfers is “hard,” and refused to entertain further questions on the matter.

Despite the ongoing speculation, with Manchester United reportedly willing to trigger Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause, Amorim remained tight-lipped. He said, “I will not say anything about Matheus, because if I say one time I will have to say for any situation that is yes or no. So I will not comment about that. It’s hard to predict what is going to happen in the future.”

Cunha, whose future has been the subject of much intrigue, is said to be “optimistic” about a potential move to Old Trafford, with Manchester United among the clubs keen to secure his signature. However, competition remains fierce, with Chelsea and Arsenal also reportedly showing interest. Discussions between Cunha’s representatives and United have already taken place.

With the Red Devils eyeing a spot in next season’s Champions League, Cunha will be watching United’s semi-final Europa League tie against Athletic Club closely. The outcome of the competition could heavily influence United’s transfer activity, with the club currently sitting in 14th place and needing to lift the Europa League trophy on May 21 to secure their European ambitions for next season.
