Saudi Arabia: Nothing with Messi for now, but we would like to bring him here one day

The General Secretary of the Saudi Football Federation, Ibrahim Alkassim, has denied that there are currently talks between a Saudi Arabian team and Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi.

Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal have both reportedly placed Messi on their radar’s following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at rivals Al-Nassr.

“At the moment we do not know anything about a possible Lionel Messi arrival, although I do not hide that, as Saudi Federation, we would like to have him one day in the domestic league,” Alkassim told MARCA.

“The idea of the Federation is always to improve our football, and of course we would like to see Cristiano and Messi in the same league again, but the truth is that we don’t know anything now.”

Messi has not received any offer from either Saudi Arabia or the MLS despite the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season. As MARCA has been reporting, his father and agent, Jorge Messi, has received a contract extension offer by PSG.

The talks between the two parties are advanced and they just need to define some details before they put pen to paper on a new deal. It will not take long for PSG to officially announce his contract renewal.

Meanwhile, after leading Argentina to World Cup success, Messi’s objective is to win another Champions League trophy
