Nigerian singer and entertainer Segun Johnson has commented on Nigeria’s shifting standards of wealth, arguing that possessing 100 million Naira no longer qualifies someone as a millionaire.
Addressing the nation’s current economic climate, Segun recalled that there was a time when having ₦30 million was enough to earn the title of millionaire. However, he emphasized that the situation has changed dramatically.
“In those days, if you had 30 million, you were truly considered a millionaire. But today, if you don’t have $1 million, you’re broke you’re not really a millionaire.
That’s the reality. Having 100 million Naira doesn’t make you a millionaire anymore. Maybe among people in Ojota or Oworonshoki, you might be seen as one, but not by today’s broader standards,” he explained.
