Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos is proving his doubters wrong in Liga MX, netting his second goal in as many matches for Monterrey. The Spanish defender powered in a header from a 12th-minute corner against Cruz Azul on March 9, marking his second goal in three appearances since joining Rayados in February.
Despite Ramos’ early goal, Ignacio Rivero equalized for Cruz Azul in the 21st minute, and Monterrey was unable to find a winner, settling for a 1-1 draw.
After the match, Monterrey coach Martín Demichelis praised the 38-year-old defender’s impact:
“Some doubted Sergio for his inactivity and his age, but he has demonstrated why he has that great international trajectory. He is the magician, corroborates it with every participation.”
Ramos himself expressed satisfaction with his performance but acknowledged room for improvement:
“We return home with a draw and room for improvement. Happy with my second goal, we continue to work hard.”
