Residents of Oke Egan, located in the Ilogbo-Eremi area of Badagry, Lagos State, were left in shock on Friday after the body of Victoria Adegoke, a woman in her sixties, was discovered abandoned in a nearby bush.

Photographs obtained by PUNCH Metro reportedly showed marks on her wrists, indicating her hands may have been tied by her attackers.
A community leader, who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the case, identified the deceased as a grandmother in her 60s. He explained that Adegoke had attended a programme at The Joy of Christ Ministry (popularly known as Ayo Jesu Church), and was returning home early Friday morning when she was ambushed by unknown assailants.
“She went to church last Tuesday and stayed for some days because of a programme that just ended. She later visited a sibling living near the church and was heading home around 6am when she was attacked. The suspects removed her clothes and underwear, strangled her, and took her phone. Her ATM card and Bible were left at the scene,” the source said.
Another resident, Adeola, expressed disbelief at the brutality, noting that Adegoke, estimated to be between 65 and 68 years old, was found by passersby who quickly alerted police at the Ilogbo-Eremi post. He urged the authorities to use the stolen phone to track down those responsible.
A separate community member, speaking anonymously for safety reasons, described the area as notorious for violent crimes, being situated along the Lagos-Ogun state boundary. “This is not the first time such a crime has occurred here. This is about the fourth similar incident in recent times. The area is known for violence, so people are always cautious. She was a grandmother, not a young woman, and was found naked. The police covered her body when they arrived. All indications suggest she was raped.”
Repeated attempts to reach CSP Abimbola Adebisi, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, for comment were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered at the time of reporting.
Badagry has seen similar disturbing incidents before. In November 2025, the corpse of an unidentified man was found in front of a filling station in the Seme area. According to a local news platform, CityMood Badagry, the man was discovered lying face-up, wearing a white top with black stripes, with his chest and neck partially exposed.
