As expected, the Spanish FA’s Competition Committee has thrown the book at Diego Simeone for his antics during the Super Cup second leg against Real Madrid.
The Atlético de Madrid coach saw red for his over-exuberant protests and responded by clipping the fourth official around the back of the head twice. He then proceeded to break the rules by watching the rest of the match from the stands.
Facing three different charges, Simeone feared a lengthy spell away from the touchline. And so it has proven, with the Competition Committee coming down like a ton of bricks on ‘El Cholo’, banishing him from the dugout for 8 matches.
