Squid Game is one of the most popular shows on Netflix at present, with many people discussing the plot and how it compares to real life, but one Reddit user has shed some light on one of the show’s main characters, player 067, Kang Sae-byeok.
Warning: if you do not want to read any spoilers, look away now. Player 067 is originally from North Korea and some of the characters speak down to her for having fled to South Korea.
What is interesting about Kang Sae-byeok is that in the original version it is possible to notice the chances to her accent.
When player 067 is with her brother, for example, she does not hide her accent at all, which is not the case when she is around the other players in the game.
In addition, a user on Reddit notes that Kang Sae-byeok uses some typical North Korean expressions, but only at certain times.
For many of us, this would be impossible to detect as we do not have an extensive knowledge of the language.
Player 067 is played by actress Jung Ho-yeon, and her goal is to get the prize money from the Squid Game to help her family, starting with her brother, who is in an orphanage.
