Hugo Lloris has expressed his opposition to FIFA’s plans to organise the World Cup every two years, as he believes that the competition should be infrequent.
The France goalkeeper is concerned that the tournament will lose its charm in the event football’s major governing body decide that it should take place more often.
“I do not have the necessary information to comment on what is being debated,” said Lloris.
On a personal level, I think that the World Cup should continue to be something rare and to be held every four years which makes the event more protected.
“We players are always thinking about the World Cup, although it is true that football must evolve. It is not up to me to decide.”
