Police operatives on anti-crime patrol in the Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto, and Agric areas of Ikorodu, Lagos, have arrested a 36-year-old suspected cultist, Muyideen Olatunbosun.
The arrest followed actionable intelligence received during the patrol, according to Lagos Police Command spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi in a statement on Tuesday.
A search of the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of a rubber-made pistol, an axe, criminal charms, and an illicit drug known as ‘Ice.’
The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Efforts are also underway to apprehend other members of the alleged cult group.
Adebisi quoted the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, who commended the operatives for their vigilance and swift response to credible information.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained, intelligence-led operations against cultism and other criminal activities across Lagos State.
