On Thursday, some Nigerians began a nationwide demonstration against escalating economic hardship and soaring inflation.

She emphasised the peaceful nature of the demonstration and called for a strong turnout to deter potential intimidation from authorities.

We need people in number so they cannot intimidate us because they just came now to intimidate us and everybody started running so, please! We need us in numbers, come o… it’s a peaceful protest, she said.

She also posted another video of herself and other protesters chanting We no go gree.

The protests have intensified across various states, leading to heightened tensions and instances of violence.

In Abuja, security forces used tear gas to disperse crowds, while reports of looting and fatalities have emerged on social media.

The Borno government has imposed a 24-hour curfew following a bomb explosion that claimed several lives.

Abba Yusuf, Kano’s governor, also declared a curfew after violence erupted during the economic hardship protests.
