We won’t condone savagery’ — Sanwo-Olu promises justice for David Imoh

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, has condemned the killing of David Imoh, the sound engineer, by motorcyclists.

On May 12, David was set ablaze by an irate mob in the Lekki axis of the state.

The sound engineer’s death has continued to provoke widespread criticism on social media, with many Nigerians calling on relevant authorities to ensure those found guilty are brought to book.

In a statement on Monday, Gbenga Omotoso, commissioner for information and strategy, said the governor has vowed that justice would be served in the murder case.

According to him, four suspects arrested in connection to the incident are currently in detention at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti while two persons that survived the attack are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Omotoso added that he has already spoken with the deceased’s family and conveyed the governor’s message to them.

He also called on the public to remain calm until an investigation into the matter is concluded.

We condemn and will not condone any kind of jungle justice, no matter who the perpetrators are,” the statement read.

“The government will address the root cause of this and similar incidents, which have caused public anxiety.

“The government asks residents to remain calm as police continue to investigate the matter.

“Lagos has no room for savagery and anybody found to have been involved in this barbarism will surely face the law.”
