Dybala breaks Cristiano Ronaldo’s Serie A shirt sales record

Paulo Dybala has broken Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the number of shirt sales on his first day after moving to Serie A club Roma.

The numbers that the Portuguese player achieved when he signed for Juventus in 2018 are lower than what Dybala achieved after completing his free transfer to Roma last week.

Roma‘s various club shops have been absolutely packed with fans trying to get the new shirt with the Argentine forward’s name on the back, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Dybala: ‘I like to win, so does Mourinho’AP

“Since this morning we haven’t stopped for a moment, we’ve done nothing but print Dybala shirts,” commented one worker.

On the club website, the story was the same. Fans wanted to get their hands on the new signing’s shirt.

He turned down Totti’s no.10

The Italian club offered the former Juventus and Palermo man the chance to inherit Francesco Totti‘s no.10, which no one has worn since his retirement.

Instead, the striker turned it down and will wear the no.21. The number chosen by Dybala is the one he has used before and which he wears with the Argentine national team.

For a long time it seemed that Dybala would be moving to Inter but their decision to sign Romelu Lukaku as well as the inability to offload players meant that they could not get the deal over the line.

He will instead link up with Jose Mourinho and try to strike up a partnership with Tammy Abraham.
