The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested three workers of the Lagos State House of Assembly for allegedly assaulting its personnel during a confrontation at the assembly complex on February 18.
The Lagos Assembly had, in a letter dated February 14 and signed by Acting Clerk A. T. B. Ottun, invited the DSS to reinforce security at the premises and ensure strict access control from February 15. However, a source within the DSS claimed that some individuals attacked security personnel deployed to the complex.
Following an analysis of CCTV footage, the DSS identified and tracked down three suspects:
- Ibrahim Olanrewaju Abdulkareem, a photographer
- Adetu Adekunle Samsudeen, attached to the Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms
- Adetola Oluwatosin Fatimoh, also attached to the Sergeant-at-Arms
The suspects were arrested at different locations in Lagos and are expected to be charged in court soon.
Meanwhile, human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) confirmed that the arrested workers have since been released on bail.
