NBA Investigates Ja Morant for Finger Gun Gesture Toward Warriors Bench

The NBA has launched an investigation into Ja Morant following his controversial finger gun gesture directed at the Golden State Warriors bench during a recent game. The incident occurred in the final moments of a 134-125 loss to the Warriors, with Morant walking toward the Grizzlies’ bench and mimicking the action of holding guns with both hands, aiming them at the Warriors’ players.

The gesture prompted immediate action from the referees, who issued double technical fouls to both Morant and Warriors guard Buddy Hield.

A Serious Matter for Morant

This latest incident has drawn significant attention from the league, especially given Morant’s prior history with gun-related incidents. In March 2023, Morant was suspended for eight games after he was seen posing with a gun on Instagram Live from a nightclub in Colorado. This led to his enrollment in a counseling program.

Later, in May 2023, Morant was suspended again for 25 games after another Instagram Live video showed him posing with a gun in a car, violating the NBA’s policy on firearms.

Additionally, there was an investigation in January 2023 regarding a possible incident involving Morant’s SUV and a red laser pointed at the Indiana Pacers’ team bus, although no weapon was confirmed.

Will This Incident Lead to More Consequences?

With the NBA taking the matter seriously, it remains to be seen whether this latest incident will result in further discipline for Morant. The young star’s history with gun-related incidents continues to overshadow his on-court performance, and the league is expected to handle the situation with caution.
