Former Juventus star Paolo Di Canio has firmly backed Mohamed Salah to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or, highlighting the Egyptian winger’s exceptional form this season.
In an interview, Di Canio expressed his confidence that Salah is currently the standout performer in world football. “From my point of view, if we stop the season now, of course, there is no doubt for me, Salah would win the Ballon d’Or, Golden Ball, Salah easy,” Di Canio stated.
Salah’s Impressive Season: A Surefire Winner?
Salah’s remarkable performance this season has propelled him to the top of the Premier League scoring charts, further cementing his place as one of the best players in the world. Despite Liverpool’s elimination from the Champions League, Di Canio remains undeterred in his belief that Salah deserves the prestigious accolade.
The Champions League and Stiff Competition
While Di Canio acknowledges that winning the Champions League could play a pivotal role in the Ballon d’Or decision, he believes Salah’s contributions in the Premier League are more than enough to earn him the honor.
However, Salah will face tough competition for the award, with other high-profile candidates such as Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid and Raphinha of Barcelona also in contention for the title.
As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see if Salah’s continued brilliance can secure him the Golden Ball.
