The family and friends of late gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu have announced the total cancellation of all previously announced burial rites.
Akinnaanu died on January 12 after a prolonged and public struggle with a severe leg ailment.
Months before her death, she had appealed for prayers and healing, drawing widespread sympathy from fans and music lovers.
Initial arrangements, circulated by fellow gospel artiste Alayo Melody, had detailed a multi-day schedule.
Plans included a service of songs, a candlelight procession, and a tribute night on Tuesday, January 20, at the LTV 8 ground in Ikeja, Lagos. A private interment service for family and close allies was set for January 21.
However, those plans have now been formally called off.
In a video post shared on Instagram on Sunday, Lanre Alewilese, a colleague of the late singer, announced that the burial planning committee made the decision due to an internal crisis within Akinnaanu’s family.
The post revealed that all arrangements are CANCELLED totally and that the family will communicate a new date to the public at a later time.
