Oyo: Suspected Drug Peddlers Arrested with Parcels of Canadian Loud Hidden Inside Tyre

Police operatives in Oyo State have arrested two suspected drug peddlers and seized eight parcels of substances believed to be Canadian Loud, which were hidden inside a car tyre.

DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, spokesperson for the Oyo Police Command, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

According to Olayinka, the arrests resulted from intelligence received about drug-related activities at a vulcanizer’s shop.

Acting on this tip, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, instructed the Officer in Charge of the Anti-Narcotics Section, through the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, to investigate the location.

“Following the directive, officers proceeded to the shop, where they apprehended two suspects and recovered the eight parcels of suspected Canadian Loud concealed within a car tyre, with the assistance of the vulcanizer.

A vulcanizing machine allegedly used in the concealment was also recovered as evidence,” Olayinka stated.

He further explained that the arrest and recovery have opened a new phase in the investigation.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement and are currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations.

They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation, while efforts continue to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate,” Olayinka added.

The spokesperson emphasized that the operation underscores the Command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking as part of the broader fight against crime.

Hard drugs not only pose serious health and social risks, but their spread can also impair judgment, fuel violence, and serve as a catalyst for crimes such as cultism, robbery, kidnapping, and other organized criminal activities.

The Command remains dedicated to dismantling such networks and urges the public to provide timely and credible information to help make Oyo State safer,” he concluded.
