Nigerian singer and rapper Oludemilade Martin Alejo, better known as YCee, has addressed the criticism surrounding his recent ‘olodo uprising’ remarks.
In an interview with Cool FM, YCee asserted that he stands by his comments and owes no one an apology. He clarified that his mention of Peller was simply to emphasize his point, and expressed frustration that his words were being taken out of context.
YCee explained that his statement was a rallying cry for those weary of “brain-rot” content and advocated for greater opportunities for intelligent voices in streaming and content creation. “Some people think I shouldn’t have mentioned Peller, but I stand by what I said.
If you’re offended, maybe you should reflect on why. Many are also misinterpreting my message. The ‘olodo uprising’ is worse than I expected, given how many people are defending it. My message is for those who are fed up with shallow content—there’s no reason intelligent individuals can’t be streamers or content creators,” he said.
