Adebayo Ridwan, popularly known as Isbae U, has opened up about the loss of his father, Kamal “Sir Kay” Adebayo, a renowned actor in the Yoruba film industry who passed away in December 2022.
In a conversation on VJ Adams Live, Isbae U shared that he did not grow up with his father, which made it challenging to form a strong bond when they reconnected later in life.
He explained that their relationship began to flourish through their mutual love for entertainment. His father, recognizing his passion for skit-making, offered valuable advice, recommended films for inspiration, and even introduced him to actors for his projects. “We just started getting close and realised we had something in common—my skits and his acting career. He would share his ideas and help connect me with actors,” Isbae U recalled.
Reflecting on their journey, Isbae U expressed gratitude that his father witnessed his achievements but admitted he misses the opportunities they lost. “I miss the privilege of confiding in my dad without fear. We didn’t get to have that togetherness for long. It was just when we started building a real connection that he passed away. I’m glad he got to see me succeed,” he said.
