
New Super Eagles invitee Semi Ajayi is absolutely delighted and honoured over his dream call-up for the Super Eagles 🦅.
The former Arsenal youth teamer was handed a surprise call-up by Nigeria Coach Gernot Rohr for the Super Eagles’ Afcon qualifiers against Seychelles.
The 24 year old Ajayi who is one of the few uncapped players on the list alongside Bordeauxs Samuel Kalu and Germany based left-back Jamilu Collins said it had always been his dream to represent Nigeria 🇳🇬.
“Always dreamt of representing my country at senior level,” Ajayi posted on social media.
“Honoured to receive my first call-up for the Super Eagles today. Thank you God.
Ajayi though born in the UK and eligible to play for England has had a stint with Nigeria before when he played for the Flying Eagles in an invitational competition tagged, Toulon Tournament in 2013 before being inexplicably dropped.
After struggling at Arsenal unable to break into the main squad he eventually ended up at struggling Rotherham in the English.
Championship where he seems to have gotten his groove back with a string of impressive performances in the heart of the defence
He has played five games and scored once in all competitions.
Rotherham have found the Championship tough and have won just one of their opening four games play Millwall and Wigan Athletic next, and also have a League Cup tie against Premier League side Everton.
The Super Eagles’ will take on Seychelles in an African Cup of Nation qualifying match billed for September 8.
